Missy Moo's Adventure!

I heard about this thing called Archibull one afternoon while I was relaxing in my paddock. I had no idea what it was, and I wanted to find out more. I asked Baarney, the sheep, in the next paddock over, and he told me that it’s this project that schools, like Hills Adventist College, are working on to tell others more about agriculture. “Each school has aaa cow entered into aaa competition,” Baarney told me, “Hills Aaadventist is near here, you could see if you could enter aaand win the Aaarchibull Prize!” I munched on my grass thoughtfully. “Aaah! In faaact, their theme is wool! I would like more people find out aaabout wool aaand sheep. I bet they would find ME very interesting.” He grins.

“I’ll see what I can do,” I laugh to myself, “Maybe they would like some of your wool too! I’ll head out tomorrow!”

Aimee is excited!

The next morning, with a bale of Baarney’s wool on my back, I headed down the road towards the school. It was about noon when I finally reached there, and I saw a canteen where some students were getting some nice, cold drinks. Forgetting that canteens are for people, not cows, I lined up. One of the students turned around and giggled, and started patting my head. “Where did you come from?” she laughed. I shook my head so the bell around my neck jingled. She looked at the writing on it. “Missy Moo. Entry for the Archibull Prize.” She nodded and pointed across the oval to a wide building. I gave her a gentle nudge of thanks and walked towards the building.
I got the job almost as soon as I walked in. The students seemed ecstatic to see a cow that could take part in their entry for Archibull! They started planning on how they could present me to be judged. I tiptoed out to see the rest of the school.

I went back to the canteen and managed to get a drink, then I began to wander. I surprised the staff working in the office, I accidentally walked into a science class, and surprisingly they let me help with their experiments, I found myself in the vice-principal’s office once and quickly trotted out, tried unsuccessfully to get the bubblers working, and was taken with the girl who I met earlier to one of her classes. I started making the school my home.

The wool bale is on!

Few weeks later, the Archibull students found me taking a stroll across the oval, and quickly took me inside. They had finished planning and were ready to work. They took Baarney’s wool bale off my back and started to see what they could do. I ended up having Baarney’s wool bale back on my back (thank you Baarney) and the white patches on me became the shape of Australia. I was really proud of how I looked. These students seemed to have learnt a lot more about Australian farming, especially wool farming. I couldn’t wait to tell Baarney what a success his idea was, and the competition hadn’t even started!

My adventure continues now. I am so excited! After much painting, working, writing, learning, planning, and of course, fun, we are pretty much prepared for the Archibull Prize! I sure hope Hills Adventist does great! But mostly, I hope that we can teach people about Australian farming! I can tell you, it’s really interesting!

Missy Moo went to the: canteen, office, science lab, Mr. Steyn’s office, bubblers and to the mathematics classroom!

We love our Aussie Farmers!
